Our Nuclear Cowboyz Show Review

logo

I told my children we were going to see the Nuclear Cowboyz. Being that they are 7 yrs and 5 years, they don’t know who that was. I showed them videos and pictures and they were so excited. They told all of their friends the next day at school. I was worried that maybe it might be to rough for them since they are so young. I worried also that my 7 year old is a girl and I thought she might be bored with “boy stuff” as she usually says but I gave it a shot as we are always looking to do new things for them.

The show started right on time and right from the start was exciting. As I looked around, the show was in the middle of everyone and all seats received a perfect view of the show. I was impressed at the staging of the arena. You could tell that there was thought put in to make sure everyone could see what was going on in the show.

At first one Nuclear Cowboy came out followed by another. They did such cool tricks on bikes but I was so happy to see the smiles on my children’s face…both of them. The two bikes then moved to the top layer of the arena and then the rival warriors appeared. They did amazing combination fighting moves.

A Nuclear Cowboy came out in an quad. He did amazing Stunts and was “attacked” by the rival warriors. Then their Ruler came out.

Then the world-famous Shaolin Kung Fu Warriors appeared to battle it out.

20140426_194814

The rival had a quad that came out of the top of the arena with blazing sparks. there was an amazing dance sequence by the Rival Team Ladies and their Ruler. Then it was a battle between the Nuclear Cowboy and the Ruler’s quad man.

The world-famous Shaolin Kung Fu Warriors fought against their rivals.  They each did amazing stunts. All you could hear were my children saying, “Oh my, oh my” and “oh my gosh.”

Chateau de Nail’s Review @chateaudenails #nails #atlanta #pedicure

After a long stressful day at work, I decided to try a salon that was right down the road from where I used to work before I had to pickup the kids from after school. I just wanted to come in and get a much needed pedicure. I walked in and expected just an ordinary salon. Instead, when I walked in, I felt like I walked into a secret society getaway for women. The walls where pink and decorated with beautiful mirrors. There were amazing chandeliers in the ceiling. There were zebra print chairs and Paris designed artwork on the walls and table tops. It was like out of a movie. I asked if they had availability but they were packed and because I had to pickup my kids, I was running short on time and couldn’t wait the small 15 minute wait. But I knew I just had to come back.

salon

I told my best friend all about it and we called and made appointments for that Saturday. When we came in to our appointment, we were seating right away. There were a variety of different specialty pedicures in addition to the classic. I chose the Cappuchino Pedicure. It came with scrubs, masks, a foot massage in addition to the basic pedicure. I was in heaven. My best friend tried the Parisan which was a medley of different scrubs and more. The owner was there and she offered water, coffee, champagne, or wine. After a hectic week, we both chose a glass of wine. Not only was the pedicure the best I have EVER HAD (and I have had a lot- love love love pedicures) but the customer service there was so friendly. My Foot Pedicurist took an  interest in what I did for a living, how my day was, and my kids. It was a very sincere conversation. I learned about her son and more. They were very hygienic. I could see them clean the spa pedicure station and tub after every customer. On the way out to pay, they offered an amazing cookie. I knew I was hooked.

IMG_20140302_091429

I went back again on my lunch break a week later and got a full set acrylic. I am from the north and like my designs on my nails. Jenna (the owner) did them herself and was very creative. Picture shown below. When I got home that night, my daughter saw my nails and quickly wanted to get her nails done. I usually don’t allow her to but she got all A’s on her report card so I said okay. The nail technician was Eric and at first I was leery about letting a male touch my daughter. He asked her about school and what she liked. He really engaged the conversation. She chose a light pink color which I was okay with her having. Eric was super friendly and made her feel like a princess. Of course, I got another pedicure with her. They have amazing Princess prices so I also let her have a mini manicure as well. She was in heaven. I created a monster because now she wants to go back every time she gets a report card. My son came with us. He shared the seat with me. There is wifi in the salon so I brought my mini ipad and my son quietly played while the girls got pampered. Of course, they loved the cookie as well. It was a great bonding experience for my daughter and I. My son didn’t mind going because of the ipad and the cookie. lol

I am totally hooked and will not go anywhere else.

The many times that I have been there in the last few months, I feel like I know mostly all of their staff and I can’t imagine going anywhere else. It’s like walking into family. We joke around and get updated every time I go. Jenna even had a beautiful baby and it was like my family having a child…I was a proud auntie (a very very very very very very distant auntie – lol). Alex has also done my designs and they have been amazing (Pictured above).

I encourage all woman to go and pamper themselves in Chateau de Nails. They have many services that I have yet to try but do want to try. When I try those services I will make sure to keep you up to date. See their website at http://www.chateaudenails.net/services/ for a list of services and prices.

fireworksMALL OF GEORGIA TO LIGHT UP THE SKY WITH 12th ANNUAL FABULOUS FOURTH EVENT

Local Families Invited to Celebrate Stars and Stripes with 70-foot Big Screen Movie and the Grandest Fireworks Display in Gwinnett!

BUFORD, G.A. (April 16, 2014)Let freedom ring! Mall of Georgia’s 12th annual Fabulous Fourth event is set to return with a star-spangled bang! Presented by AutoNation Mall of Georgia, the mall’s Independence Day bash will offer bursts of patriotic fun for the entire family, including children’s rides and inflatables, live music, food and beverage concessions, a special Movies Under The Stars presentation of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on a 70-foot big screen and – of course – the largest fireworks display in the county!

To fire up the famed Fourth festivities, families can don their red, white and blue and head over to the Kids Zone at 5 p.m. Pint-sized patriots will enjoy jump time in the bounce house and games of cornhole, water balloon toss and more. There will also be chances to win amazing prizes from Mall of Georgia stores! Throughout the evening, guests can show off their patriotic pride by purchasing a small American flag for $1 in support of the Simon Youth Foundation, which helps at-risk youth achieve success through scholarships and other educational opportunities.

An entertaining concert lineup featuring the Brent Gafford Band and The Woody’s will keep the crowd rockin’ until the fireworks spectacular starts at dusk. This year’s Independence Day celebration will also offer a variety of summer snack favorites, including Skip’s Hawaiian Shaved Ice, funnel cakes, popcorn, cotton candy and more!

Mall of Georgia has teamed up with the Gwinnett County Fire Department and the Gwinnett Department of Transportation again to ensure this event is both fun and safe for all guests. Because the fireworks display will launch from the Nordstrom Overflow Lot, some sections of the Nordstrom Parking lot will be closed to event attendees. These areas will be clearly marked, and guests are free to park elsewhere on the mall property. For the easiest entrance and exit, mall management recommends that attendees park in the Dillard’s Lot.

The fun-filled festivities don’t end with the fireworks finale! As part of its Movies Under the Stars series, Mall of Georgia invites guests to stay after the show for a FREE post-fireworks viewing of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (rated PG-13) on a 70-foot big screen in the parking lot across from Dick’s Sporting Goods. With plenty of tasty treats and ample space to spread out, this outdoor screening is the perfect way to end the special celebration with fellow friends and loved ones. As always, guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Grab the whole family, get in on the patriotic fun and experience this Independence Day tradition!

Charlotte’s Web’s Review Playing at the Center for Puppetry Arts Now thru May 25

10156126_10152091480364163_4245353777988307582_n

My children love going to the local library and seeing the Story Time Puppet Shows. I was very excited to see that Charlotte’s Webb was playing at the Center for Puppetry Arts for a number of reasons:

  1. My daughter’s name is Sharlett.
  2. My kids love puppet shows.
  3. It was so close to their swim lesson that it worked out perfectly.
  4. We love to support Non-Profit Organizations.
  5. It is a great family outing.

When we arrived, we went to will call and picked up our tickets. The nice ticket representative told us they were going to start seating. If you are a member of the Center for Puppetry Arts, you get preferred seating in the front rows. However, if you are a non-member and get there 30 mins prior to the show you also get to sit in that seaction. We did not get their 30 mins prior, we got their 15 mins prior. So immediately I thought we would get crummy seats as it was first come first serve. We walked up the red stair case to the theatre. We were greeted by a cheerful girl that checked our tickets and told us to go to the next representative that would show us our seats. We took a few steps down and was seated by another cheerful representative. We had WONDERFUL seats. We were a couple rows behind preferred seating but there is not one bad seat in the enter theatre. Every seat could comfortably see the stage.

I could see the anticipation on my children’s face as they waited for the show to start. Finally, the lights dimmed and my kids were all smiles. As the show went on, I was so impressed with:

  • the quality of the puppets
  • the fact I couldn’t see the people behind the puppets
  • the great sense of humor the show had
  • the way the stage changed effortlessly without and intermission
  • the show was an hour which was short enough to keep my kids entertained without getting bored but long enough to be a great show
  • the way they told the story

Being that last weekend we attend my grandfather’s funeral, I didn’t know how the kids would take hearing about Charlotte’s passing. The show made it seem so heroic of Charlotte that I thought it was perfect telling of the story.

When the show was done, the puppet masters told us about the Center for Puppetry Arts. They told us about the general admission and how the Members help to keep the Center going. They also told us about the different contributors to the Center. The Puppet Masters also showed us the different type of puppets and how they did the show. I thought that was a great lesson for all the kids as well as the adults.

After the show, we headed downstairs to the museum where we saw all of the past puppet shows showcased and learned how they were done. Here are a few:

Then we headed to another staircase to go do an arts and craft. The kids created a puppet of Charlotte the spider.

After the craft, we visited the Center’s Store. It was filled with all types of puppets, gifts, and more.

Overall we had a wonderful time and would recommend it to all families as a wonderful show and day out.

The art show will be March 9 – May 4. The opening party is scheduled for March 13, 7-9pm. The gallery location is 1710 Defoor Avenue, NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. The event is free to the public.

Winter has been harsh. Fresh blooms and all the beautiful colors Spring brings will be welcomed. So we say, “Enough with the snow. Come on Spring!” Our Natural Beauty show will exhibit the landscapes, flowers and all the splendid views nature gives us.

Patrick Dennis, Maureen Engle, Dawn Martin, Greta Mattingly, Wynne Ragland are the featured artists. Patrick’s aspects of nature are very calming and serene. While her specialty is palette knife painting, Maureen likes to experiment with different mediums and combinations including oil, acrylic, oil pastels, watercolor and collage.
